8 months old!

William turned 8 months old on the 6th of August!  I know I'm behind, but we've been at the beach for a week with no internet access.  I'm glad there was no doctor visit for 8 months, but I am interested to find out how much he weighs and how tall he's gotten at his 9 month appointment.  I can tell he has really grown!  My new nickname for him is "Chunky Monkey!"  I know he's still not considered chunky for a baby, but he's chunky for William :)  Just last night, David was rocking him to sleep, and I just couldn't believe how big he was...it seemed like just yesterday when he was barely big enough to fit in the crook of your arm. :)

Ok...enough reminiscing. William has become quite vocal this past week.  He is talking, babbling, and screeching at the top of his lungs.  Of course we have no idea what he is trying to say.  I think he mainly does it just to hear himself, and see our reactions.  He is also getting quite the attitude!  Before, he didn't seem to mind us taking things away from him, but now he will cry or yell, letting us know he wasn't through playing with it.  He has also started to show his disapproval if we happen to walk out of the room leaving him alone.

On the fun side of things...William has started dancing!  Well, he will start bouncing when he hears music - it is so cute!  William is a pro at crawling now, and is starting to cruise!  That is walking around as he holds onto furniture.  His newest trick is to hold on with only one hand, or even give it a try with no hands!  This has resulted in many bumps and bruises this week, but I'm guessing it won't be long before he is standing on his own and then walking!

This week was also the first time William showed any signs of preferring me over others.  I was holding him, and when someone else tried to take him from me, he acted a little shy and buried his face in my shoulder.  He normally is happy with anyone, so it was kind of sweet to feel that he was a Mama's boy...if even for a short while.

This is such a fun stage.  We love watching him learn new things every day, and can't wait to see what the next few weeks and months have in store!
