The Tuesday before Thanksgiving, David called me at work and told me William was running a fever of about 101. Other than being a little needy and and just wanting to be held, he didn't have any other symptoms. So, I told him to give him some Tylenol and keep a check on it. At 3:30 the next morning, he woke up with a fever of over 103. I gave him more Tylenol, and planned on calling the doctor first thing in the morning. When we woke up about 7:00, his fever was completely gone and he was back to his normal self. After getting things ready to go to Grandma's house for Thanksgiving, I realized he started to feel hot again around lunch time. By 2:00 his fever was back up to 101. So, I called the pediatrician and they wanted us to come in just in case he had an ear infection. Of course the earliest thing they had was 4:40 in the afternoon. So, we waited around and finally went to the pediatrician for William's first sick visit :(
Well, turns out he didn't have an ear infection - the doctor actually said his ears were perfect - but he did have a virus that should pass in 3 to 5 days. Good news - nothing to worry about, just give him a little extra love...and Tylenol. Bad news - it's contagious. Our doctor didn't seem too worried about it though. He said not to change our Thanksgiving plans (yay!), just be careful around the elderly.
William was very well-behaved at the doctor's office and didn't even cry when they pricked his finger. David on the other hand didn't do too well for that part of the visit, but at least he didn't pass out (yay Dad!) :) So, the finger pricking and the squeezing blood out of his finger didn't bother William, but the band-aid was just too much!
